Although Zoom does not allow many opportunities for customization, there are several small adjustments to make Zoom slightly more personalized. This article will explain changing your profile picture, waiting room interface, and other personalization opportunities.

Profile name and profile picture

From the Zoom web interface, it is possible to update both your displayed name on the Zoom app and the profile picture that is visible if you disable your video. ,First select Profile, and then either “Change” below the profile picture to update or this, or ‘Edit’ to adjust the displayed name.

Personalizing Waiting Room

Another way of personalizing Zoom is to change the message that is displayed when individuals enter the waiting room. Such changes can make Zoom feel more integrated into your course offerings. 

Access settings for customizing Zoom's Waiting Room

Provided your institution has not prevented the ability to edit your waiting room text, after clicking customize, you will have the option of changing the following parameters:

  1. The top waiting room instructions
  2. The logo for the waiting room
  3. A description of the waiting room

The meeting topic is automatically populated based on the title of the meeting.

If you are not able to make changes to the text once the setting has been open, this indicates that your institution has prevented the ability to make changes.
